X-WR-CALDESC:NSN Webinars are back on! \n\nJoin the NASA Night Sky Network
on Thursday\, November 20\, at 6:00 PM Pacific Time (9:00 PM Eastern)\, al
ong with Jamie Rankin\, where we’ll discuss the plasma\, magnetic field\,
and particle environment from the Sun to the interstellar medium\, surveye
d by Voyager 1 & 2.\n\nAbout Dr. Jamie Rankin:\n\nDr. Jamie Sue Rankin rec
eived her PhD from Caltech in 2019 under Dr. Ed Stone\, who served as the
Voyager’s project scientist for 50 years – from its inception to interstel
lar space. Jamie arrived at Caltech 6 days after Voyager 1 crossed the hel
iopause and has continued to watch history unfold ever since! Her PhD thes
is was the first to analyze these surprising new measurements from beyond
our astrosphere. Now a Research Scholar at Princeton University\, Jamie se
rves as the Deputy Project Scientist of the Voyager mission (https://scien
ce.nasa.gov/mission/voya.... She also leads the Solar Wind and Pickup Ion
(SWAPI) instrument on NASA’s IMAP mission\, which launched into space on S
eptember 24\, 2025 (https://imap.princeton.edu/) and is now making its way
to L1. Jamie also studies the energetic particle observations at the othe
r heliospheric extreme – very close in to the Sun – on Parker Solar Probe.
