X-WR-CALDESC:Join the NASA Night Sky Network on Wednesday\, May 27\, 2020 a
t 6:00pm Pacific Time (9:00pm Eastern) to hear Brandon Reddell from NASA's
Johnson Space Center give us an inside look at the science taking place o
n the ISS.\n\nThe International Space Station is an orbiting laboratory\,
in which we are conducting research to help push farther into space while
benefiting humans back on Earth. Commercialization of Low Earth Orbit is a
n enabling tenant of our National exploration goals. In this talk\, Dr. Re
ddell will discuss why we do research on ISS\, what are we learning from I
SS research\, and will highlight a couple of recent astrophysics results.
\n\nAbout Dr. Brandon Reddell\n\nBrandon currently works in the Internatio
nal Space Station Research (ISS) Integration Office helping investigators
in getting their research onto the ISS platform. Previously he spent over
15 years working with ionizing radiation environments and effects for var
ious NASA missions. He holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Hous
ton and an MS in Applied Physics from Johns Hopkins University with his in
terests being in high energy physics and space physics. Brandon occasional
ly teaches physics and astronomy at the University of Houston at Clear Lak
e and he is an avid amateur astronomer.
