Registration Information

After July 23rd, no on-line or mail registrations for the meeting can be accepted. You can still register at the door, but come a little early to have enough time to fill out the registration form and make payment. For the time and place of registration, click here.

Registration Instructions

Safe & Secure: The ASP is using a safe and secure third-party registration vendor, Event Rebels, to process registration information and PayPal to process credit card payments.

Two Forms: We are using two on-line forms for the meeting:

a. a registration form, which lets you just register one more people for the meeting

b. an abstracts form that allows you to submit an abstract separately from registering for the meeting (you can use this form more than once if you are submitting two abstracts)

E-mail Confirmation: You will receive a confirmation of your registration, as well as follow-up email notifications pertinent to the meeting. Please be sure to give us an email address that will work for you in the spring and in the summer. Your email confirmation will serve as your receipt for meeting registration expenses. (Those Cosmos participants who are receiving scholarships should make an extra copy to send in for reimbursement.)

Each time you submit a form for our meeting, you will receive a new confirmation letter, a new confirmation code, and registrant ID. At the present time, the system is not able to link together different forms submitted by the same person. This means that if any of your information (such as e-mail or address) changes between now and the meeting, you will need to change the record for all forms you submitted -- your registration and each abstract.

Multiple Registrants: You may sign up more than one registrant at a time but make sure you have all of their information and selections ready prior to filling in the form.

Meeting Fees: Registration fees for the symposia include a one year general membership with the ASP or an extension of one year to your current ASP membership. There is a separate registration fee for attending the Saturday/Sunday workshops. No meals are included in the registration fee, but coffee breaks will be provided.

Our meeting this year includes two symposia, but it is all one meeting. You only register once. While we assume that people will generally sign up for one symposium, there will be some joint sessions, and meeting registrants are free to go between the two symposia if they wish.

Registration: Online only. 

Payment: For your convenience, there are two payment options:

  • Credit card using the secure online registration/payment system.

  • Check or money order -- via postal mail accompanied by a printout of the confirmation email you receive after submitting your online registration. Your check or money order must be received by July 23.

We cannot accept purchase orders as a payment method for this meeting or the associated events.


We recommend reading this Registration Information page thoroughly before filling in the registration form. The form is time sensitive and will "time-out" within 10 minutes if you are not ready to answer all of the questions.

Secure Online Payment. We accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. You will be asked to supply the 3 digit CVV2 number on the back of your credit card and the billing address associated with the credit card.

Mail-in Check/Money Order Payment. If you wish to pay by check or money order, you must SUBMIT your registration online, and mail check or money order with a copy of the Registration Confirmation email you receive after submitting your online registration to address below.

Checks or money orders should be made payable to "Astronomical Society of the Pacific" or "ASP" and paid in US dollars. Your check or money order must be received by July 23 (checks for discounted rates must be received by the discount deadline).

Regarding ASP Membership:

If you are a current ASP member, we ask you to tell us that on the registration form. If you are new to the ASP, you will begin to receive one year of General membership benefits such as our online Mercury magazine right away. More importantly, you are supporting the education programs and services of the ASP. You can view all of the Membership Information from the ASP website.

If you are a Technical member, Family member, or Supporter’s Circle member of the Society at a higher rate, you are entitled to receive a $55 discount upon your next renewal and send payment for the difference (per membership).

If you are only able to attend one day of the conference, we offer a one-day rate of $199.

Weekend Workshop Fees (July 31-August 1)
(Does not include general membership)

$70 for two days.
This fee does not include breakfast or lunch, but there will be places on and near the campus to purchase meals.

ASP Annual Awards Banquet

You are cordially invited to the annual Awards Banquet of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific on Tuesday evening, August 3. You do not need to be a member of the Society to attend and spouses and guests are welcome. After a festive meal in the Grand Ballroom of the historic Memorial Union, we will celebrate the work of the 2010 award winners in astronomical research and education. You can use the registration form to sign up for banquet tickets and make your entrée selection. The cost, including wine, is $48 per person.

Please note that if you are staying in the residence halls as part of our campus package, the cost of the banquet is already included. It replaces your Tuesday evening dinner.

Lunch on Campus

If you are staying off campus, and would like to have lunch in the campus cafeteria, you can order a lunch package that includes lunch on Monday 8/2, Tuesday 8/3, and Wednesday 8/4.

Proceedings for the EPO Symposium

The ASP is planning to publish the proceedings of the Earth & Space Science: Making Connections EPO meeting as part of its conference series. We are offering a special $45 price for this volume, which is $10 off the regular price.

*Refund/Cancellation Policy
Requests for cancellations on advance registration must be received in writing, by email  2010meeting {at} or by FAX (415-337-5205) no later than July 15, 2010 for a refund less a 15% processing fee. Cancellations received after July 15, 2010 or persons who do not appear at the meeting are not eligible for any refund. Refunds will take approximately three weeks after the end of the meeting. Contact us by phone at 415-337-1100 x100 if you have any questions about these policies.

In Summary:

If you are participating fully in this meeting, you have three different kinds of actions to take:

1. you need to register for the meeting

2. you need to reserve your lodgings (either a hotel or the campus residence halls)

3. if you are giving a paper and/or a workshop, you need to submit one or more abstracts
