“Strengthening the Global Community of Astronomy Communicators”

Our community of astronomy communicators and educators collaborate has a lot to gain from collaboration. It has never been easier to involve partners from other organizations in projects. With a click of a mouse we can today co-write texts, work collaboratively on graphics and layouts, edit, proofread, share ideas and work creatively together.

Like other sciences, astronomy is limited by the availability of resources. Science is growing in scope and the mysteries that need to be solved seem to be getting ever greater (and more interesting).
We need openness and a realization that we have a lot more to win by working together than by competing. We also need agreement on joint technical frameworks such as open licensing and technical standards. By use of examples, I aim to make this presentation more "user-friendly" and "hands-on", rather than "academic" and "theoretical".
