Ramasamy Venugopal
Ramasamy Venugopal works at the Office of Astronomy for Development (OAD) in Cape Town, South Africa. The OAD is a global grant maker that funds and supports grassroots projects that use science, related to astronomy, space, and physics, in the pursuit of sustainable development. Examples include economic development in rural areas via astro-tourism, and educational projects that stimulate interest in STEM through astronomy. Ram coordinates the grant programme, leading the selection and onboarding of projects and ensuring optimal outcomes. So far the office has funded 1 million Euros in more than 200 projects reaching people in 100+ countries and impacting 12 of the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals.
