Partner Event - SETI Institute Talk: Cosmic Dawn, a NASA+ documentary that tells the story of the James Webb Space Telescope

August 22, 2025 6pm PT

Next week, we’ll be screening Cosmic Dawn, a NASA+ documentary that tells the story of the James Webb Space Telescope—how it was designed, built, launched, and how it's capturing light from the earliest stars and galaxies in the universe.

Join the SETI Institute Friday, August 22nd at 6:00 PM (PT) for a free virtual movie night featuring a screening of "Cosmic Dawn", a new NASA+ documentary that follows the journey of the James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) through its assembly, testing, and launch, showcasing the complexity and risks involved in creating a telescope capable of peering billions of years into the past.

After the film, stick around for a live conversation with planetary astronomer Dr. Mark Showalter, a senior research scientist at the SETI Institute and expert in planetary rings and moons. Dr. Showalter will walk us through some of the most striking imagery captured by JWST and share what these profound observations can tell us about the cosmos.

Whether you’re a seasoned space enthusiast or just curious about the universe, this is an evening you won’t want to miss. Streaming is free and open to all. Grab some popcorn and join SETI Institute online!
