Amateur Achievement Award winners
Purpose
The
Amateur Achievement Award of the ASP, given yearly since 1979, is
designed to recognize significant contributions to astronomy or
amateur astronomy by those not employed in the field of astronomy
in a professional capacity.
Nominations
Nominations
are welcome from members of the astronomical community. Self nominations
or nomination by a family member will not be accepted. All nominations
will remain active for three years of competition; additional support
letters or nomination updates will be accepted at any time.
Letters
of Support
Letters
of support are required and should be requested by the nominator.
Due
Dates
Nomination
forms and letters of support must be received in the offices of
the ASP on or before 15 December 2008.
Selection
The
Award Committee, appointed by the Board of Directors, will select
the awardee. The Award will be announced in the spring of 2009.
The
Award
The
Award consists of $500 and a plaque to be presented at the Annual
Meeting Awards Banquet.
