ASP2021 Summer Symposium

Kathryn Williamson

Dr. Kathryn Williamson teaches introductory astronomy, manages the WVU Planetarium, and for the last few years has pivoted much of her astronomy outreach to focus on climate change. She co-founded WV Climate Action in 2020 to track and encourage climate actions around the state in coordination with the global climate strikes. She is the Principal Investigator of the WV Climate Change Professional Development project, which brings together a team of physical and social scientists, community activists, and teachers to implement and develop climate change classroom activities and create and broadcast climate change Public Service Announcements. She also led a team of WVU faculty and students to the WV State Capitol in February for a Climate Education Day with legislators.
