This event took place July 23, 2021

ASP2021 was a day-long interactive symposium to explore the astronomical perspective as we fight to protect our planet.  Through a series of talks, panels, and workshops, participants participants engaged with the global communities of the ASP and A4E to learn about causes, consequences, and solutions related to the climate crisis.  They gained the knowledge and tools to better communicate, educate, and advocate for solutions to climate change as well as inspire change on an individual, institutional, and societal level. Ticket included a special public talk and exclusive symposium attendee-only discussion, the evening before the symposium, with Jill Tarter, co-founder of the SETI Institute.

Special Public Talk with Jill Tarter: Thursday July 22

Participants of the Symposium as well as the Public, enjoyed a  special evening with Guest Speaker, Jill Tarter, co-founder of the SETI Institute. This special webinar event was included with the Symposium registration and also open to the public with a suggested sliding scale donation. Symposium attendees joined Tarter for an exclusive meet-the-speaker session.

The ASP is excited to be in partnership with Astronomers for Planet Earth for this special Summer Symposium.

Astronomers for Planet Earth is a grass-roots movement uniting astronomy students, educators, and scientists around the globe to share their astronomical perspective about the Earth and climate change with the public.
